Chairman of the Braintree Electric Light Board Thomas J. Reynolds Announces Campaign for Mayor of Braintree

Braintree, MA - Chairman of the Braintree Electric Light Board of Commissioners, Thomas J. Reynolds, has announced that he is a candidate for the Office of Mayor of Braintree.

“The Town of Braintree’s next Mayor will be faced with numerous challenges that must be addressed adequately if we as a community are to maintain a solid financial footing while at the same time demonstrating a proven ability to balance the quality of life issues that make Braintree the envy of many communities across Massachusetts. Our next Mayor must be experienced in executive level management with a proven level of accomplishment in a municipal setting.  Braintree’s next Mayor must be capable of managing a multi-million dollar operation while being responsive to the concerns of the entire community. It is critically important to the continued success of our community to have a Mayor who can engage effectively with local residents and business owners to set priorities for our Town's future.”

“The current administration has built a strong and stable foundation following the establishment of Braintree’s Mayoral and Town Council form of government starting in 2008.  It is essential to maintain the economic stability that is now in place. It is critical that Braintree’s next Mayor has the requisite leadership skills, proven accomplishments, and the vision to carry Braintree forward.  A step back is not an option for Braintree.”

Reynolds has 30 plus years of municipal experience as an elected official in Town starting as a Parks Department Commissioner, a two-term elected member of the Board of Selectmen, to include Chairman, and as the current Chairman of the Braintree Electric Light Department (BELD) Board of Commissioners. Reynolds has also served as the past Operations Manager for Braintree Water and Sewer, assistant DPW Director for the Town of East Bridgewater, and as the Director of DPW for the Town of Marshfield for the last eight years.

“As we move forward with this campaign, I will be addressing all of the important issues challenging Braintree today. Issues such as prioritizing public ways accessibility for all, upgraded Zoning Ordinances, address aging Town and school infrastructure, increase senior and workforce housing, and implement a plan to relieve traffic congestion in our Town.  We, as a community, need to mitigate these pressing issues if we are to maintain the character and quality of life of our Town.”
